VU's elite student athletes can be selected to represent Australia at major international sport events.

The Universiade (Summer and Winter) brings together the world's best student athletes. Held every two years in a different city, it is one of the largest multi-sport events in the world.

The World University Championships are single sport competitions with over 30 stand-alone events. The Championships are held every two years, between the Universiades.
