Gain the skills, knowledge, values and capabilities to make informed choices about their professional, educational and personal life options with the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) at Victoria University Polytechnic.

The Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) at Victoria University Polytechnic has been designed to support students wishing to pathway into the VCE Vocational Major, employment or entry level TAFE/VET qualifications. 

The VPC is suitable for students whose previous schooling experience may have been disrupted for a variety of reasons, including:

  • students with additional needs
  • students who have missed significant periods of learning
  • vulnerable students at risk of disengaging from their education. 

While the VPC is not a senior secondary qualification, it is an accredited foundation secondary qualification under the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 and it can be a pathway to the VCE.

Skills First (subsidised) indicative fees

The Skills First government contribution in 2023 towards this course is $9,600. If eligible, you will pay:

  • Tuition: $3,480*
  • Materials: $0
  • Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF): maximum per year $163.

Full-fee place total indicative fees

  • 2023 full-fee place: $15,000.

Course contents

The minimum requirement for the VPC0000001 Victorian Pathways Certificate is satisfactory completion of 12 units, which must include: 
• at least two units of VPC Literacy (or units from the VCE English group, including VCE Vocational Major Literacy) 
• at least two units of VPC Numeracy (or units from the VCE Mathematics group, including VCE Vocational Major Numeracy)
• at least two VPC Personal Development Skills units 
• at least two VPC Work Related Skills units.
The remaining four units may include other curriculum such as VCE units, VCE Vocational Major units and units of competency from nationally recognised VET.

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course. Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.
