Overview

Gain academic, practical knowledge and employability skills with the Victorian Certificate of Education Vocational Major (VCE VM) at Victoria University (VU) Polytechnic.

The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) Vocational Major (VM) is a two-year program that offers you a pathway into apprenticeships, traineeships or further study. You will gain interpersonal skills and build confidence through learning activities and completing tasks that require you to apply your problem-solving, leadership and decision making capabilities.

You will develop:

  • literacy and numeracy skills
  • work-related skills
  • industry-specific skills
  • personal and employability skills
  • skills for further education.

The VCE VM is a senior secondary school qualification (Year 11 and Year 12) issued by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) and is delivered under the authority of the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA). If you successfully complete the course, you’ll receive your Victorian Certificate of Education Vocational Major.

The VCE VM program applies the STRIPES model, which focuses on strengths-based, trauma-informed practice such as restorative justice and positive education strategies.

VU Polytechnic’s student-centred focus recognises that each student is unique and supports them to become STRONG: strengths-focused, teachable, resilient, optimistic, nurturing and grateful.

This focus is embedded into the timetable through workshops or presentations run by VU Wellbeing, VU Polytechnic support staff, VU Careers and industry guest speakers.

In addition to your VCE VM enrolment, you will need to enrol into a Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification and complete the necessary VET units to meet the VET credits requirements of the VCE-VM program.
