We offer a range of equity scholarships for TAFE students who need financial and practical assistance.

Some scholarships offer valuable one-on-one mentoring from business and industry leaders, reflecting our strong workplace connections.

You can apply for a scholarship if you're enrolled in certificate I, II, III, IV, diploma and advanced diploma courses. The course duration must be longer than six months.

Our TAFE scholarships are available for domestic students (Australian citizens and permanent residents). International scholarships are available for students who are coming to VU from outside of Australia.

Equity (hardship)

VU Access scholarships

Study level: TAFE, undergraduate
Study area: all
Eligibility: high school students, mature-age students, demonstrated financial hardship
Value: $1000 per year for up to two years (maximum of $2000)
How to apply: VU Access Equity Scholarship applications are currently closed.

VU Western Chances scholarships

Study level: TAFE, undergraduate
Study area: all
Eligibility: high school students, demonstrated financial hardship, must have received a Western Chances scholarship at secondary school
Value: $1000 per year for up to four years (maximum of $4000)
How to apply: Application by nomination from Western Chances.

Hume Multiversity Tertiary Scholarship

Study level: TAFE, undergraduate (Certificate III and above)
Study area: Various
Eligibility: Newly commencing students who reside within the Hume Local Government Area
Value: $2500
How to apply: Hume Multiversity Tertiary scholarship

Tertiary Access Payment (TAP)

Study level: TAFE (certificate IV and above – full time over a minimum 12 months duration), undergraduate
Study area: all
Eligibility: inner and outer regional, remote and very remote students who need to relocate to access tertiary study immediately following school (Year 12 or equivalent)
Value: $3000-$5000 for the first year of study
How to apply: Apply for the TAP program through Services Australia. Find out more about the payment via the Department of Education website.

VU Ignite Scholarship – VU Guaranteed

Study level: TAFE, undergraduate
Study area: all
Eligibility: high school students from selected partner schools
Value: $2000 for the first year of study
How to apply: VU Ignite applications are included as part of a VU Guaranteed application.

Propel your Pathways scholarship

Study level: TAFE, undergraduate
Study area: various
Eligibility: current 2022 school leavers who are eligible for and enrol in an approved pathway course that leads to a HE course (includes Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation)
Value: $5,000
