When do I submit my special admission application?

Submit your application, along with any supporting documentation, when you apply for your course.

Special admission categories

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students can talk to Moondani Balluk staff about course options, and the range of support services and pastoral care available.

Indigenous Australians may be eligible for VU’s Moondani Balluk Aboriginal admission program. Fill out the form and a member of staff will be in touch with you soon.

Admission into a course will be based on an assessment of your capacity to successfully complete the course.

For applicants whose school or home location has adversely affected their preparation for post-secondary study.

Rural or isolated areas are determined based on the Australian Standard Geographical Classification (ASGC) Remoteness Areas classification.

For applicants who are applying for a course in fields of study recognised as underrepresented by their gender. View our list of  eligible courses for men and women in under-represented disciplines.

For applicants whose non-English-speaking background has adversely affected their preparation for post-secondary study.

If difficult living circumstances have impacted your preparation for post-secondary study, you may be considered under this category. Circumstances include, but are not limited to:

  • long term illness of a relative
  • constant relocation
  • excessive family responsibility
  • abusive living environment
  • homelessness
  • natural disaster.

Your education may have been affected by difficult financial circumstances, where you were dependent on Centrelink or a Family Tax Benefit for support.

The Accessibility Services team aims to ensure that all students with a disability or medical condition are able to actively participate in all aspects of university life.

Students from families where no one has attended University before them are called 'first in family' or 'first generation' students.
