Overview

The Solar Grid Connect - Install TNABN short course is designed for electricians who want to gain skills in installing grid-connected PV systems.

This course allows successful students to gain provisional accreditation with the Clean Energy Council, which may lead to full accreditation in Grid Connect Install.

You will develop technical skills and knowledge that will ensure you are ready for work, including:

  • preparing to work on photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems
  • solving problems in photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems
  • completing work and documenting problem solving activities
  • preparing to install photovoltaic power systems
  • installing photovoltaic power systems
  • completing and reporting on installation activities.

Course contents

In order to be issued a Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency(s) within TNABN Solar Grid Connect - Install, a student must successfully complete the core units.

Recognition of Prior Learning and/or Credit Transfers

Previous completion of units at the Polytechnic or any other Registered Training Organisation and/or previous attainment of skills and knowledge may be credited towards this course.

- solving problems in photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems;

- preparing to install photovoltaic power systems;
- installing photovoltaic power systems, and;
- completing and reporting on installation activities.

Admission & pathways

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course. Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.

As part of the application process, applicants must complete a Pre-training Reivew (PTR) to determine suitability for admission.
Applicants must hold an Unrestricted Electrician's Licence or equivalent issued in an Australian State or Territory.
This admission requirement satisfies the unit prerequisite requirements and the Clean Energy Council accreditation requirements.
The pre-requisite unit requirements are as follows:

UEERE0022 - Solve basic problems in photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems

UEECD0016 - Document and apply measures to control WHS risks associated with electrotechnology work (Pre-requisite unit - UEECD0007)

UEECD0043 - Solve problems in direct current circuits Pre-requisite unit - UEECD0007)

or

UEECD0044 - Solve problems in multiple path circuits (Pre-requisite units - UEECD0007 and UEECD0046)

UEECD0046 - Solve problems in single path circuits (Pre-requisite unit - UEECD0007)

UEECD0025 - Lay wiring/cabling and terminate accessories for extra-low voltage (ELV) circuits (Pre-requisite units - UEECD0007, UEECD0020 and UEECD0051)

or
UEEEL0023 - Terminate cables, cords and accessories for low voltage circuits (Pre-requisite units - UEECD0007, UEECD0019, UEECD0020,UEECD0051 and UEECD0043 or UEECD0044 and UEECD0046)

UEERE0016 - Install, configure and commission LV grid-connected photovoltaic power systems

UEERE0022 - Solve basic problems in photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems (Pre-requisite units as above)
UEEEL0012 - Install low voltage wiring, appliances, switchgear and associated accessories (Pre-requisite units - UEECD0007,UEECD0019,UEECD0020, UEECD0051,UEECD0016, UEEEL0003,UEEEL0020, UEEEL0023, UEEEL0018, UEEEL0005, UEEEL0019, UEEEL0021, UEEEL0014, UEEEL0008, UEEEL0009, UEEEL0010, UEEEL0024,UEEEL0025 and UEECD0043 or UEECD0044 and UEECD0046)
