Overview

Build upon your existing Microsoft Word skills with an intermediate-level short course at Victoria University Polytechnic.

This 4-hour workshop is designed for professionals who are familiar with the software and want to enhance their skillset. You’ll find this course beneficial if you’re using Word at work or home and want learn some of the program’s higher-level functions, such as inserting graphics and tables into a document.

During this half day workshop, an expert facilitator will use videos, online exercises and discussion groups to build upon the basics of Word, so you can become more efficient in your current role or aim for a promotion.

By the end of the course you'll know how to plan and create complex Word documents, embed a table of contents in your work and use functions such as indexing and ‘if’ and ‘then’ statements.

Learning outcomes

This workshop will provide participants with a foundational understanding of Microsoft Word at an intermediate level. It is anticipated that the participants will be existing workers with a range of experiences in diverse workplace contexts to better manage their current role responsibilities or to expand their skill set to access employment or promotion.

The program is delivered over a half day (4 hour) workshop via an online platform, facilitator led delivery will provide an overview of platform being utilised and expectations of participation whilst ensuring any participant technology issues are addressed. This course will be facilitated via webinar or zoom scheduled times, including short videos, and electronic resources provided to participants and involves group discussions to support the key objectives listed below.

At the completion of the workshop participants will be able to:

*Demonstrate and discuss workstation ergonomics while working with Word

*Identify Microsoft Word intermediate features

*Plan and create Intermediate / Complex word documents

*Use some of the automated functions embedded in work. (Table of contents, indexing, IF and THEN statements, graphics, tables)

Participants will need access to a computer with an operational version of Microsoft Word installed on their computer. The program requires participants to have basic level of computer skills to access and operate the online learning software to navigate a webpage and find information, attend a webinar using zoom or webex for online delivery. If the course is being delivered face-to-face onsite, computer access is not required.

At completion of the course participants will be able to:
