This unit introduces students to the fundamental concepts, issues and benefits of information systems to organisations and individuals. Students investigate the nature and types of information systems, their impact on business processes, and how these systems and processes contribute towards an organisations competitive advantage. The unit commences by examining the characteristics of good information and how it supports sound decision making. Students develop skills in the management of data and information through the use of personal productivity tools. Through a range of activities in online workshops students are able to research and communicate their understanding of information systems in discussions, written assignments and oral presentations.
