Fee extensions

If you are unable to pay your fees by the due date, and require extra time to make payments towards the cost of your study, you may be eligible for a fee extension.

VET/TAFE students eligible for fee extension

The following VET/TAFE students are eligible for a fee extension:

• international students (enrolled in Certificate I-IV or diploma and above)
• domestic students enrolled in VET/TAFE Certificate I-IV
• domestic students enrolled in VET/TAFE Diploma level or higher who are not eligible to defer their tuition fees through VET Student Loan (VSL). This applies to:
  • Permanent Residents others than Humanitarian visa holders
  • New Zealand citizens who do not hold a Special Category Visa (SCV) or do not meet the long term criteria stated by Study Assist).

VET/TAFE students not eligible for fee extension

Students who are eligible to defer their tuition fees are not eligible for fee extension. The following VET/TAFE students are not eligible for a fee extension:

• domestic students enrolled in Diploma level or higher who are eligible to defer their tuition fees through VET Student Loan (VSL). This applies to:
  • Australian citizens
  • Permanent Humanitarian visa holders
  • New Zealand citizens who hold a SCV visa and meet the long term criteria stated by Study Assist.

You'll need to pay your fees by the due date or defer by census date.

Alternatively, you may be eligible to apply for a TAFE payment plan.

Fee extensions process for VET/TAFE students

If you cannot meet the extended payment due date, you may be eligible for an additional extension if you meet the criteria defined under exceptional circumstances for fee extension.
