Overview
Learn how to coordinate and manage effective, safe and engaging events across a range of industries, with a Diploma of Event Management SIT50322 at Victoria University Polytechnic.
You will develop fundamental planning, communication and organisational skills, and acquire a detailed understanding of the event management process. On completion, you will have the confidence to manage a variety of events for different clients from conception through to operation.
You’ll gain both a theoretical and practical understanding of events, and develop skills in:

Course structure
The course structure comprises the following core and elective units. These electives have been selected based on industry needs, graduate pathways and/or student and teacher feedback.
To be awarded the SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management, a student must successfully complete a total of twenty (20) units of competency, comprising of:
* thirteen (13) core units, and;
* seven (7) elective units, of which:
- four (4) units must be from Group A
- three (3) units must be from Group A, Group B or elsewhere in the SIT Training Package, or any other current Training Package or accredited course.

Recognition of Prior Learning and/or Credit Transfers:
Previous completion of units at the VU Polytechnic or any other Registered Training Organisation and/or previous attainment of skills and knowledge may be credited towards this course. Units must satisfy the completion rules of the qualification and be assessed as appropriate by the Polytechnic.
Learning outcomes
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use a broad range of event-related skills and sound knowledge of event management processes to coordinate event operations. They operate independently and make operational event management decisions. They are able to coordinate an event from conception to completion.
