 Jessica, Course & Unit Advisor

Greetings, I’m Jess your Course and Unit Advisor for the College of Arts and Education & College of Engineering and Science.

I provide a range of academic administration support and course-specific advice, primarily for the early childhood education, criminal justice, youth work and community development courses, but also all other programs across the colleges.

I am a proud graduate of Victoria University, achieving the Deans Scholar award for 2022 in the College of Business upon the completion of my Bachelor of Business. I have experience in student services within VU, as I started working casually within VUHQ while I was a student.

Surely you can see a pattern here. I have quite a commitment with VU.

Starting from when I was in my final year of high school and I attended the careers expo, to attending open day, becoming a student, an alumnus and finally a staff member. The values embodied by the culture of the university, by the people (I majored in Human Resource Management so I have a soft spot for people) and programs run are all aimed to best preparing everyone for the real world, even those who may be the first in their family to attend higher education.

I know that navigating studies and life can be very difficult sometimes, so having someone to seek guidance from in relation to your course is very important. That is why I am passionate about being a source of information to assist students with making their own decisions.

In my spare time, I love discovering new worlds through the pages of a fantastical book, and occasionally seeking those same adventures myself.

I wish you the best of luck in your studies here at Victoria University.

Hi, I’m Mark Falconer and I’m your Course and Unit Advisor for the College of Arts and Education.

I provide a range of academic administration support and course-specific advice, primarily for the Bachelor of Education courses but also all other programs across the college.

I joined Victoria University four years ago after working at the University of Melbourne for around 20 years. So I have vast and varied experience across all areas of university administration.

I like the way that VU offers opportunities to both staff and students that other universities don’t offer.

Outside of work, I enjoy travelling to many and varied places, doing a bit of snow skiing or bike riding, or just going out for a nice meal and a glass or two of red.

Throughout this time, I have worked for various departments including the Short Course Centre as a coordinator and Enrolments Offshore as a Team leader. This has enabled me to provide the best information and support as a Course and Unit Advisor to students regarding all aspects of the students life cycle from enrolment to completion.

I love VU because of its cultural diversity and respect for each and every individual. I was really lucky to get the opportunity to start my journey here as a student then student as staff. I am and will always be thankful to VU for the opportunities it has given me. I have always worked closely with students and enjoy the relationship and assistance that I can provide them to support them and make their student life easier.

Currently, I am a full time mother of a two year old boy and I am loving every bit of motherhood.
