JVAE Capstone Exam Preparatory Course

You'll meet the knowledge requirements for registration as a migration agent with the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA) once you've successfully completed both of the following:

• the Graduate Diploma in Migration Law
• the prescribed external capstone exam.

There are other requirements prescribed, including, but not limited to, English-language requirements.

Our course presenters are barristers and solicitors with specialist expertise in the migration industry. Many have workplace experience preparing practitioners to handle Australian migration law issues. Others have been involved in teaching in migration law for over 30 years, or are specialists in preparing students for postgraduate academic study.

Professor Rodger Fernandez

Rodger Fernandez is a Professor in the College of Law & Justice. He is a Law Institute of Victoria Accredited Specialist in Immigration Law. Rodger is the current Chair of the Law Institute of Victoria, Advisory Committee to the Specialisation Board (Immigration Law). He is listed in the Financial Review Australia’s Best Lawyers.

Sherene Ozyurek

Sherene Ozyurek is a Fellow in the College of Law and Justice. She is a Law Institute of Victoria Accredited Specialist in Immigration Law. She is also a Committee Member of the Advisory Committee to the Specialisation Board (Immigration Law).

David Prince

David Prince lectures in the College of Law and Justice. David has practised in all aspects of Australian immigration and citizenship law since 1995 and has been recognised as an Accredited Specialist in Immigration Law by the Law Society of New South Wales since 2000. David is the current Co-Chair of the Law Society of New South Wales Specialist Accreditation Immigration Law Advisory Committee, and is listed in the Financial Review Australia’s Best Lawyers. He was previously an examiner with the College of Law for the Capstone Assessment.

Kathryn Viegas

Kathryn Viegas lectures in the College of Law and Justice. She is a Law Society of New South Wales Accredited Specialist in Immigration Law. She is also a member of the Law Society of New South Wales’s Specialist Accreditation Immigration Law Advisory Committee. Kathryn is listed in the Financial Review Australia’s Best Lawyers. She was an examiner with the College of Law for the Capstone Assessment.
