Overview

Gain the practical skills and knowledge to safely erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding at a basic industry-approved level with this Basic Scaffolding course.

This course equips you with the scaffolding skills to provide work platforms for construction purposes, including edge protection, access ways and falsework. You will develop competencies connected with the operation and use of:

  • modular and prefabricated scaffolds
  • cantilevered materials with a maximum working load of 500kg
  • ropes and gin wheels
  • safety nets and static lines
  • bracket scaffolds (tank and formwork).

On successful completion of this course, you can apply to WorkSafe Victoria for a license to perform high risk work.

Course contents

In order to be issued a Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency within TNSCF Basic Scaffolding, a student must successfully undertake the following unit:

CORE UNIT

Recognition of Prior Learning and/or Credit Transfers

Previous completion of units at the Polytechnic or any other Registered Training Organisation and/or previous attainment of skills and knowledge may be credited towards this course.
