Overview

Complete the Alcohol and Other Drugs Skill Set course and gain recognition of your experience providing alcohol and other drug (AOD) support in the community and health industry.

The Alcohol and Other Drugs Skill Set will give you specialised skills to recognise and work effectively with clients who experience alcohol and/or other drug issues.

This course meets the minimum requirement set by the Department of Health and Human Services so you can establish or extend the parameters of your current employment in the AOD sector of community health.

The Alcohol and Other Drugs Skill Set has been endorsed by industry and is suitable for people who have (one of):

  • a relevant qualification at Certificate III level or above in community services, health, or related field
  • skills equivalent to the qualification requirement validated through recognition of prior learning
  • substantial industry experience, on the job training and development along with supervisor assessment of capacity.

Skills First (subsidised) indicative fees

The Skills First government contribution in 2023 towards this course is $4,410. If eligible, you will pay:

  • Materials: $0
  • Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF): maximum per year $163.

Course contents

In order to be issued a Statement of Attainment, for CHCSS00093 Alcohol and Other Drugs Skill Set, a student must complete the core units.
